In 1990, the wooden house was too small for any expansion. Consequently, he relocated Sun Weng Chun to the Industrial Area in the First Garden, Ipoh where the production was operated in a factory. The enterprising Lek Goh embarked on mechanizing production gradually by installing more machineries and latest equipment while the management of the company was under the care of his able wife Madam Chen. The couple worked hand in hand and laid a sound foundation for the company.
As Sun Weng Chun gradually secured a bigger market share after expanding the market from residential areas to supermarkets and minimarkets, the pragmatic Lek Goh decided to withdraw himself to his production work in the factory while sales and marketing are entrusted to his staff. |

On the strength of its high quality and public reputation, Sun Weng Chun emerged to be a regional brand. In 1999, he purchased a plot of land in the Industrial Area in Bercham and built the new “Kilang Kicap Sun Weng Chun Sdn Bhd”. With the concerted efforts of the family including his wife and children, the business began to grow resulting in two more expansions of the factory. |

The building of the brand of Sun Weng Chun is definitely not an ‘instant job’ that is based on publicity. Neither is it like a bean sprout plant that grows fast, but lacks fiber and is delicate. Their efforts, perseverance and vast experience are all contributing factors to it. It has the good qualities of a Chinese juniper known as ‘gui tree’ that is solid and tough with strong and dense fibers.
“To build empty-handedly” is the phrase that can be aptly used on Lek Goh. It is not meant to praise him but rather to sum up his life.  |
